This Mental Health Awareness Week, we are encouraging people across Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire to take small steps to support their mental wellbeing.
This year’s theme, ‘Thrive Together: Work Well, Grow Strong, Live Well’, focuses on creating supportive environments where people feel connected, valued and able to reach their potential.
Good mental health is about more than the absence of illness. It is about feeling supported at work, in education and in everyday life.
Work can play an important role in our wellbeing. Positive workplace cultures help people feel safe, respected and able to speak openly about their mental health.
Simple actions can make a difference, including:
- checking in with colleagues
- encouraging healthy boundaries
- taking regular breaks
- creating space for open and honest conversations
When people feel supported at work, teams are often more connected, resilient and productive.
Early support can help children and young people build confidence, resilience and positive mental wellbeing for the future. Find local services offering support and guidance on our website.
Feeling listened to and understood can make a significant difference. By supporting young people early, we can help create healthier futures for individuals, families and communities.
Take one step for your wellbeing
Throughout the week, people are being encouraged to take one positive step for their mental wellbeing.
This could include:
- checking in with yourself or someone else
- reaching out for support
- making time for rest and connection
- starting a conversation about mental health
- supporting a colleague, friend or young person
Every action matters.
If you or someone you know needs mental health support, help is available. Visit our wellbeing pages to find local mental health services, self-help resources and advice on where to get support.
By working together across workplaces, schools, health services and communities, we can help more people to thrive.
